1.7m Air Track |
This Air Track built by Daedalon, provides an excellent medium for studying the one-dimensional motion and collision of bodies and the conservation of momentum in a minimal friction environment. The air track itself is durably constructed of triangular aluminum extrusion, selected for its straightness before manufacture to assure a maintenance-free linear track. Hand finished and clear anodized, the track has been designed for use without a support beam. A full length metric tape is set into the extrusion with a guide groove for spark paper set in the opposite side.Basic Air Track includes:• Two 300g gliders and one 150g glider, which come completely assembled and calibrated to their nominal mass• A rubber band glider launcher and an end pulley for acceleration with a constant force experiments• Springs for harmonic motion experiments• Magnets for damping and noncontact collision• A complete Air Track manualSpecifications:Length: Overall 1.67m; working length: 1.6mCross Section: Isoceles traingle, angle at apex 90°Air Holes: Two rows each side, 2.4cm separation between rowsSupport Measurements: Full length meter tape on one side, spark paper grooveEnd Stops: Fitted with bumper springs, rubber abnd glider, launcher, and end pulleyGliders: Two 300g, one 150gMass: Mass within ±1gm; Top threaded groove holds fastener for harmonic spring motionsColor: 150g gold, 300g red, anodizedSprings: Three 2.5cm long stainless steel coil springsBumpers: Nickel-plated spring steel for low energy loss in collisionsMagnets: Two ceramic magnets for non-contact collisions
