Copper Voltameter (Coulombmeter)

Copper plates are immersed in a suitable solution (e.g., cupric sulfate). By running a current through the voltameter, your students can produce electrodeposition of copper on the cathode. Calculations will show how the amount of current used relates to the quantity of material deposited to confirm Faraday’s laws of electrolysis. The apparatus consists of three 50 x 110mm copper plates suspended in a plastic jar from a Bakelite cover with binding posts. The center plate acts as the gain plate (cathode); the other two as loss plates (anode). With instructions. Size: 12cm dia. x 13.5cm H.
