Economy Force Table |
Equipped with a large, 40cm diameter tabletop, a 3cm thick support column and a heavy cast base with leveling screws, this force table can be a workhorse for any basic physics lab.
The durable polymer tabletop carries an angle scale with 0.5° divisions, marked every 10° in both rotation directions. Four table-clamp pulleys are included, each has a circular cutout with a fiducial mark for accurate angle measurements.
Four sets of slotted masses, each 150g x 5g including hangars, are supplied with the table. The slotted masses have a keyhole pattern which secures them during adjustments.
The cords include split rings for easy connection, allowing three-force and four-force equilibrium arrangements to be rapidly constructed.
Includes bubble level.
The table is 41cm high.

 - Tuesday, July 21, 2009 Sturdy Force Table Reviewed By: Stefanie (Merced, CA) Pros:
1. I was definitely impressed with the evident durability of this force table.
2. I also like the keyhole slotted masses; they will not slide off the mass hangers.
3. The top and base may be easily unscrewed from the post for storage.
Cons:
1. The pulleys are not low friction; I replaced ours with the Pasco Super Pulleys since we had extras and they are low friction.
2. When the pulleys are installed, they cover the 0.5-degree markings on the scale. The Super Pulleys do not cover the 0.5-degree markings and are etched for easily reading the scale.
3. The string came pre-cut and tied to the rings. However, they were just a little too short (the mass hanger touched the pulley... not as long as in the picture), so I replaced them with slightly longer string.
Overall, the pros far outweigh the cons. This table is heavy, sturdy and I expect it to last for years to come.
Pulleys and string are minor parts which are easily replaced; if this is done (which I recommend), this is an excellent Force Table.
