Hydraulic/Pneumatic Jack Model |
A convenient set of four variously-sized cylinders (syringes) that are easily connected to a basic jack stand with a large main cylinder allows students to construct pneumatic or hydraulic jacks with differing mechanical advantages, and to explore the relationship between mechanical advantage and velocity ratio. Students can measure force and plunger travel. The set also highlights the difference between compressible fluids (air—pneumatic jack) and incompressible ones (water— hydraulic jack) allows Boyle’s Law to be verified for air, and demonstrates the operation of a pump. Set includes a jack stand, plunger, 60 ml main cylinder, four smaller cylinders (3ml, 6ml, 12ml, and 20ml,) a set of connecting hoses and valves, and instructions
