 - Wednesday, September 28, 2011 Safe and Quiet Reviewed By: Katelyn (Lewisburg, PA) I really like these electrodeless spectrum tubes. They are very easy to use and best of all they are silent (no annoying buzzing!). There are a couple of down sides to them though. First, the types of tubes you can get are limited. We really need oxygen and mercury tubes for our labs, so this product doesn't work to replace all of our old tubes. Second, the tubes are fairly faint. Though this is okay for some situations, it means that some common lines (like the hydrogen 434 line) aren't visible with the Project Star Spectrometers.  - Wednesday, September 16, 2009 Safe Spectrums Reviewed By: Walter (Getzville, New York) Recently I had the great pleasure of sampling Cenco's new Spectrum Tube Power Supply. This product is fantastic! After using my old standard power supply for 25 years in my chemistry and physics classes, this new one is a welcome relief and change. No longer will I worry about student accidents and student safety. The spectral tubes are encased in durable plastic and are not at all fragile like the standard tubes. Best of all, I will never again be concerned about dangerous shocks because there are no exposed electrodes on the tubes or in the power supply unit. All electrical contacts are internal. You simply insert the tube into the power unit and it automatically turns on. When the tube is removed, the power unit automatically shuts off thanks to an ingenious magnetic switch. And as a special bonus, there is no annoying buzzing sound on this ultra-quiet unit.
